About
Dr. Jashodhara Bora is an Indian classical Bharatanatyam dancer, academic, and Assistant Professor in the Department of Hindi at Cotton University. A Doordarshan Grade Artist from Prasar Bharati, Guwahati.
Academic and Professional Background
*Education: Holds a post-graduation degree from Lady Shri Ram College, New Delhi, and a Ph.D. in Hindi Linguistics from Tezpur University, Assam.
*Current Position: Assistant Professor in the Department of Hindi at Cotton University, having previously taught at Dimoria College, Gauhati University and Handique Girls' College.
Dance and Cultural Career
*Bharatanatyam Training: Trained under world renowned Guru Dr. Saroja Vaidyanathan (Padmabhushan Awardee) at Ganesa Natyalaya, New Delhi.
*Saroja Natyalaya: Founded Saroja Natyalaya, a Bharatanatyam dance institute in Nagaon, Assam, on November 1, 2014.
*The Assam Sisters: Honored alongside her younger sister, Kalashree Upasana Bora, with the title "The Assam Sisters" by Dr. Saroja Vaidyanathan in 2010.
*Leadership Roles: Served as the Founder President of the Nrityangan Dance Club at Tezpur University and as the Founder & Instructor for Bharatanatyam at Srijanee: The Society for Arts & Culture at Dimoria College.
*Awards: Recipient of the Sangeet Ratna (Rabindra Bharati University, 2005), the National Nritya Shiromani Award (2016), and the Nritya Kanaka Jyoti Samman (2018).
